A very short article to give an idea of what to expect and how to get involved. We recommend reading our Intro page first for an overall idea of our ethos & for all the basic important information.
Yearly Theme
Each calendar year has an overall theme. This lasts for one full cycle. We pause in January to prepare & brainstorm. The programme starts from Imbolc on the 1st of February & ends just before Christmas.
Monthly Theme
Each month within the cycle has its own theme. These will generally reflect the mood & gifts of the season. Content will vary, but below is an idea of what to expect:
- Short set texts relating to the theme. These may be articles, poetry, short books, films, documentaries, or even a mixture.
- Our online content will relate to the texts. We’ll upload reviews, articles, creative writing, and live readings.
- Creative workshops & activities both online and offline.
- Each month has its own unique #hashtag and a creative challenge to complete.
Week 1
- At the start of each month an article will be released which covers the theme, our calendar will be open with booking for activities, and we’ll announce the # challenge.
- A live video will also be recorded on Facebook & Instagram discussing the theme with a space for Q&A if needed.
- We hope you’ll be busy enjoying the texts. But if you don’t have time, later in week 1 we’ll upload live readings & articles.
Week 2
- We’ll run creative activities & workshops.
- This is an ideal week to start brainstorming your challenge piece.
Week 3
- We’ll be creating and uploading our own creative work & content.
- We hope that another provider can run an interesting workshop in this week.
Week 4
- Deadline to finish monthly challenge. Option to share with # or submit your piece to ourselves.
- Online mycelial gathering. We’ll close the month with empowering activities and a supportive discussion circle.
- Community Climate Cafe. An in-person meet-up at our homebase. We’ll share actionable mycelial ideas to forward to our local council.
And an opportunity to share ideas for what events or activities you’d love to do in future.
Some of our favourite creative pieces will be shared at the beginning of the next cycle. The best piece from each month will win a prize & entrance into our Spores Ebook at the end of the year.
